DarkOnion's How-to for free 3G Mobile
Hotspot for Droid 2 and Droid X
(and possibly other phones)


This is a tutorial on how to modify the out of the factory, 3G Mobike Hotspot to allow
free access to the internet to other WiFi devices through your Droid 2 or Droid X.
Please read the directions, and watch the video carefully prior to doing any
installs. You need to use specific files to your phone.

Install instructions:

1. Download and place all your files, TBH Tether patch (and Fission 3G Hotspot) on the base of your SD card.
(Plug in your phone into your computer, change the USB mode to USB Mass Storage,
then copy and paste the files to base directory of your SD card.)
2. Open the Droid 2 (or Droid X) Bootstrapper, tap bootstrap recovery, then reboot recovery.
3. Your phone will reboot in to ClockworkMod.
4. Choose Install Zip from SDCard, then choose Choose Zip from SDCard
(Use the volume up/down to scroll, camera trigger to select, and power button to go back.)
5. Select Fission 3G Hotspot (.zip) file and confirm
(skip this step if you are not on Fission or already have 3G Wireless Hotspot)
6. Like step 4 and 5, now choose and confirm the TBH Tethering patch for your respective phone.
(Also a .zip file)
7. Reboot your phone.

How to Install Koush Bootstrapper:

1. Move Koush Bootstrap files to the base of the SD Card.
Best way to do this is to plug your phone into your computer.
Make sure you phone is in USB mass storage mode.
To change it, pull down the notification blind, choose USB connection, and choose USB Mass storage.
Now copy and paste the files to the new removable drive that showed up in your My Computer.

2. After moving all the files over to the phone, change the connection type back to Charge Only.
Notfication blind -> USB Connection -> Charge only.

3. Install Koush Droid 2 Bootstrapper.
Using an app installer, Astro File Manager, or equivalent, navigate to your SD card.
The folder in Astro File Manager will be called sdcard.
Choose Droid2Bootstrap.apk and install it. Follow the directions.
(You may need to enable installalation of apps from unknown sources.)
