Update: 3/28/2016

Hi all.

Nothing really new here. Just a quick update.

Round 3

Round 3 is right around the corner. We’ll be going to Marina this Sunday. Should be lots of fun. C-Street runs in the afternoon, so I will be able to sleep in on Sunday morning as well as stop at Burrito Express in Fremont for a breakfast burrito!

More information on round 3 can be found here: http://www.sfrautox.com/?page_id=162

As always, if you are ever interested in autocrossing, no better time than the present to get started. Reach out to me and I can help you get pointed in the right direction.

I think I am going to try to change the way I recap my autocross runs. Right now, I just post videos and that’s really about it. I think I want to try to change the format a little bit. I really like the way that karting places give you time sheets when you are done with your sessions, and I think I can create my own template. I am not quite sure how I’ll be able to implement it through WordPress, but we’ll have to see.

I’ll probably start simple at first, then try to make it a little more elaborate. My goal is to create something that looks cleans, relays a clear message, and doesn’t look dull. I was thinking about including a course map, a table of section times, and some comments on the course.

Worst case scenario is I try, and it doesn’t work out.

National Tour – Crows Landing

Still not quite sure about me attending this or not. I haven’t planned that far ahead. I am thinking about it though. I won’t be able to attend the Pro-Solo, though. I currently have another obligation for that weekend. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Crows won’t be too hot. The weather was rough last year.

That’s all for now!

March 4th, 2016 Update

Hi all.

Work is a little slow at the moment, so I thought it would be a good idea to give everyone a little update.

Boondoggle 2016

Boondoggle 2016 was a huge success. When pre-registration closed on Friday, we had 150 people already signed up. At morning registration, we had another 50+ people sign up in person. Anytime you have those numbers at Marina, that’s a great day.

The event ran really smoothly. Computer problems were rare, which is always a good thing. We had a bunch of workers and all stations were adequately filled. We actually had so many workers for one group, I ended up asking some newer people to shadow people to see how they ran grid, worked the computers, etc.

Many years ago, I told myself that I was never going to chair an event ever again. That was really due to so many people having such poor attitude when it comes to contributing during events. I am so glad that so many people stepped up this past event. Everyone stepped up big time. The chiefs; the workers; the volunteers. We started relatively on-time, and even though we ended our last run at about 5:55, almost 6PM, we had the trailer packed and the doors locked at 6:15PM. That is awesome considering that Trailer Tetris is a PITA.

Looking Ahead

AAS is holding two events this weekend at Marina. I won’t be in attendance. As much as I enjoy autocrossing, I already have plans for this weekend, though that might change…

The next SFR SCCA event will be March 13th at Crow’s. That will be a lot of fun. I am thinking about getting together with some friends after our runs and hitting up the local Chinese restaurant. If you are ever in that area, definitely check out Golden Lion Chinese Restaurant!

National Tour

The SCCA National Tour is less than 2 months away, and I have no idea what I am doing. I would like to be in attendance. Whether that is the case or not depends on all type of things. Money is a little tight and will probably be for awhile. I also don’t know what I’ll do for a ride. I had meant to get the Impreza fixed up, but that’s kind of been on the back burner. It is mostly a combination of not having time and not having money. 🙁 We’ll see…

I think that’s all for now.

Boondoggle 2016

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for a job well done today. And when I mean everyone, I really do mean everyone, from chairs and chiefs to participants.

Everyone stepped up today. We had an awesome 200+ people show up today. I wanted to at least mention a few individuals. First off, thank you to Dennis for co-chairing with me. Hats off to Justin for an awesome course. Much thanks to all the chiefs who make these events possible. Lastly, I wanted to thank everyone who went beyond to keep this event running smoothly. I want to thank everyone who came up to us chairs and asked “where we can help?” I especially want to give props to everyone in run group 4&5 who made clean-up and breakdown swift and painless. We started clean-up around 6, and had the trailer doors closed and locked by 6:15. Awesome job!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next event!
